Swine Flu In Mexico and the United States

An animal strain of the H1N1 virus is causing a pandemic alert because it is affecting people.

68 people in Mexico have died from this strain of swine flu and eight people, six in California and two in Texas have been confirmed to have the same strain of swine flu. All eight of the U.S. infected have recovered.

Mexico City has closed all its schools until further notice. More than 1000 people have been sicked in the country and it is being determined of how many of those had the strain of swine flu.

In the U.S. 75 students at a Queens school are undergoing tests as of Friday to determine if it is the swine flu, after they all had exhibited flu-like symptoms. Cough, fever, sore throat, aches and pains were among those symptoms.

The United States had not issued any travel alerts or advisories by late Friday, but some private companies issued their own warnings.

this is definitely scary stuff, sounds a lot more serious than the peanut butter salmonella scares at the very least

  • Manfred says:

Much more serious. With peanut butter you can choose to stay away from the product. With the swine flu, you don’t know who is carrying the disease until its too late, no different than any other communicable disease, your infected without knowing it. This is something you and everyone should keep a close eye on.
