North Korea launched a long-range rocket early Friday, U.S. officials confirmed. The White House said it would issue a statement, NBC News reported. Rosie O’Donnell Canned For Anti-Bush Comments

rosie.jpg“I do believe that it was the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel, ” O’Donnell said when questioned on whether she thought the US government was behind the collapse of World Trade Center.

“I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center tower which collapsed in on itself–it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved. Miraculously, the first time in history steel was melted by fire,” she said.

“To say that we don’t know that it imploded…is beyond ignorant. Look at the film, get a physics expert from Yale, from Harvard, pick the school. It defies reason. Imagine if somebody could convince you of that.”

With these remarks, in support of conspiracy theorists, the outspoken co-host of the ABC talk show “The View,” began to pave her way off the show.

That path was cemented when the liberal O’Donnell and co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, a political conservative, had a heated exchange last Wednesday over the Iraq war. O’Donnell criticized US policy by saying, “655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?”

All of these remarks were made on national television.

While I personally don’t agree with conspiracy theories regarding 9/11, I do believe that O’Donnell has every right to express her opinion in a public forum.

To those of you who would say that ABC has every right to scrag O’Donnell because they own the network, I would say that they are suppressing public opinion because they have another agenda. A corporate agenda that backs Bush administration policies whatever they may be.

Why else would they ditch someone who has sent the ratings (profits) for the show through the roof? Patriotism? Give me a break.

I do not beleve Rossie should use the View to vent her personal opinions,I don’t have the same oppertunety to voice my oppinion to her. The view is not political There for no place for Rossie.

Rosie is not the only one who doesn’t buy the governments story. Also check out Architects & Engineers for 9-11 Truth:

Sorry Cecil, I don’t agree. “The View” is a talk show in which opinions are expressed, political or otherwise. You may not be there in person to express your opposition to O’Donnell, but that is Hasselbeck’s job.

I know that the 9/11 conspiracy theory is popular; that is why I think O’Donnell had a right to let it be heard on mainstream TV. I just don’t happen to believe its true. I sure hope not.

Rosie O’Donnell wasn’t canned. She quit. It is strange that the big fight came on Wednesday, when the producers of “Loose Change” were scheduled to appear on Thursday. But then I read that ABC had already nixed the appearance of “Loose Change.” I also find it strange that Bill Gedde quit appearing on the show when Rosie began.
I don’t want to believe there is a conspiracy surrounding 9/11 but there do seem to be very strange things happening to those who believe.
I know that I no longer trust the news to tell us the truth about everything. I used to trust that if there was something hinky somewhere reporters would root it out. But, no more.
If “Loose Change” et al are just bunk, why doesn’t some news program takes its questions one by one and answer them. Even Canada expressed doubt in their program “The Lies That Led to War in Iraq”.

  • Alexjonesfan says:

However you may feel about Rosie, she was not fired. She was offered a multi-year multi-million dollar contract and she turned them down. She was not fired. The contract is expiring and they aren’t going to renew it.

I really don’t understand why anyone got their panties bunched up over this. It was a TV show with women discussing their “view” of things. Sometimes it got heated and then the ratings went up. Ever watch Jerry Springer?

If you believe in the “free market”, then you have to believe that ABC turned down making money for another agenda.

    Dear Sirs,

The clip of the Wednesday show was the first time I ever saw “The View”. It was hilarious! Reminded me of a Bob and Ray routine. I say let it all hang out. Let’s see Rosie wherever. Let’s listen to Rush. Imus is neither entertaining nor enlightening but I hope his audience gets to hear him again.

But really, Rosie, do you have any idea whatsoever how steel is made? Ever hear of a Bessemer furnace? Didn’t think so.

    Regards,
    Roy

  • Siena says:

Really Roy? If you didn’t make judgements based on one experience, you would know that Ms O’Donnell indeed knows the temperature at which steel melts. She has pages of information on which she bases her question, not belief, it is still a question. All she asks is that an independent investigation be done on 9/11. Everyone just wants their points answered one by one. What is wrong with debate about 9/11? It caused a war that has lasted longer than WWII.
Also, since the hijackers came from Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan, she points out to the REST OF THE WORLD we, being our American Government, may look like terrorists for attacking a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.
We haven’t attacked North Korea, Iran, China or Russia for having potential WMDs. Thank God, I might add.
Americans have a right to question everything. And when you can’t answer the qurestions don’t call the questioner names. Ms O’Donnell has been attacked on many fronts, rudely. Yet no one answers her questions.

  • E Vero says:

    Hi,
Rosie was on an opinion program; she was airing her views, which appeared to get twisted around by Hesselback. I watched their fight, which was absurd. I am sure that Rosie will get a new and better venue from which to air her views, and I support her search for the truth.

And what is wrong with asking questions? Isn’t this still a democracy? What do you think those troops are supposed to be fighting for? Our whole way of life has been changed by 9/11, so of course we all want to know if it is a lie or not.

I believe it is a lie. The NIST report, by the way, said the steel is unlikely to have been over 600 degrees F for longer than 15 minutes. Steel melts at 2750 degrees F – and must also burn for a long period. It would have also had to burn perfectly evenly to generate such a perfect collapse . . . three times! Pretty close to zero probably of that being true.

The official explanation is that O’Donnell was involved in a contract dispute with the network that couldn’t be worked out, so she quit.
The actual dispute, though, was about a clause that ABC wanted to insert into O’Donnell’s new contract, calling for her to tone her act down. When She disagreed with the demand, she was told that this clause was non-negotiable. It would be in her contract or she would have to resign. So she quit. In the buttoned-down business world this is the same thing as being fired. This has been confrmed by several sources.

The rumor is that O’Donnell already has a new show in the works.
