Lilly To Market Doggy Prozac

sleepingdog.jpgReconcile, a chewable version of Eli Lilly’s anti-depressant medication Prozac, has been approved for distribution by the FDA and will soon be on the market.

The drug’s purpose is to help allay canine separation anxiety. It will compete with Novartis AG’s Clomicalm.

So this is the end product of Big Pharma’s insistence on keeping drug prices high in America. This is the reason research and development is so expensive. This is the kind of thing the drug companies are working on. Along with countless erectile dysfunction remedies, of course.

Who really cares if the struggling worker can’t afford his or her needed medication, so long as the wealthy pet owner can pony up big bucks to avoid having to clean up dog crap after a night on the town? Who cares if the average American must make a choice between eating and the availability of their medicine when the sexual pleasure of the affluent is at stake?

HIV, cancer? Well, they’re working on it.

Right on! But why blame just Big Pharma?
All the R&D resources that are expended to bring the next video game console to market could instead be directed to promoting social justice.
After all, what’s more important? Playstation 4 or curing cancer?

Good point. After all, many of those games are highly violent and most are directed at teenagers.
We are growing a nation of fat, lethargic types whose main concern is how to knock off their bullying classmates.
At least it’s good for the insurance business, no?

prozac for dogs, children, adults. What happened to making your own joy and contentment?
If your child is sad, its not chemicals the baby needs – the baby needs something to make themselves feel good about them selves. A trip to the zoo, museum, board game, throw a ball, children need an interactive parent that actually cares about how and what they feel not a damn drug, and we sit and wonder why our children are using escapism to solve their issues.
The dog? give it a shoe or a bone for Gods sake! pet him or tell him hes a good dog.
compassion can go a long way.

  • Manfred says:

Why even get a pet if it must be kept medicated so that it doesn’t interfere with your life? Why have children for that matter?

  • Kate says:

Can’t argue with that statement one bit. good point.
Seems most children in the school system are on some kind of medication to keep them at bay so the teacher doesn’t have too much of a difficult. Don’t get me wrong I praise the teachers today, but I admire the ones before medication.
