Ed Bradley Dies
Ed Bradley, who spent 26 years on the CBS news magazine, “60 Minutes,” died of leukemia today at the age of 65.
Bradley’s journalistic abilities were recognized with four Peabody awards and 19 Emmys, among other achievements.
He covered the Vietnam War, in which he was wounded while on assignment. He reported on Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaign in 1976, then became the first black White House correspondent for CBS during the Carter presidency. Bradley joined “60 Minutes” in 1981 when Dan Rather replaced Walter Cronkite as CBS News anchor.
Ed Bradley was a great journalist, one of the very best. He will be missed by many, and his absence will be noticed by many more.
