President Obama has been in office for over 40 days now. What the hell is he doing? Is he just sitting on his duff surfing the internet? Playing video games on the old blackberry?

I can get my household budget done in a day!

I’ve not seen anything happening, you would think after a month the ecomony would be all fixed!

Inflation is still on the rise. Banks still folding. Jobs still being lost. Companies are still laying off workers. What is going on here!

I have not seen the magic genie, nor the wizard that promised me a brain. And what about that rabbit he was to pull out of his – Ive not seen that either!

Common Mr. President dont you think by a month the world should be all put back together again? God did it in a week, what are you going to say your only human and these things take time?

Are you going to say that with the world in such a cluster fump that a month isnt long enough to fix what took decades to get us to this point?

Are you going to say that you have the best minds in America working daily on finding the best guessed solutions as that’s all we have is a best guess?

Are you going to tell us to quit our whinning and put on our big boy pants and act like adults and do our part to fix whats broken?

Are you going to ask us to work for our money and stop taking hand outs from Daddy?

Are you going to tell us that such a difficult task is not solved in a little over a month, that it may take years to get the world under control again? Jee, its only the world that is in a mess, whats wrong here! This should be all under control by now!

[In case there are those who have the disease 'ostridge syndrome', this is a facetious post to say that the President is doing the best that can be done, and people have to give it a chance to see any positive changes.]

Hi, welcome to the new ManfredEye. After upgrading to WordPress 2.2.1, transferring to a new host–which took much longer to accomplish than expected, and a change of theme, I am finally comfortable with making this announcement, even though it remains a work in progress.

At this point I would like to thank my girlfriend, Kimberly, who is always here to encourage me in this endeavor. I would also like to give a note of gratitude to Kate, my Vice President of Technology, without whom none of this would have been possible. And also to Evelyn, VP Finance, for helping to fund this blog.

Thanks to all my readers for their past support, and I hope these upgrades only add to your experience on Manfredeye.

In the WEIRD NEWS section of the Bloomington Herald Times, I found this bizarre story:

Apparently a gravedigger, Keith Chartrand, broke into a casket while he was digging a grave and stole a skull and thigh bone. Then he took them home with the intention of making an ashtray and pipe from the body parts.

He was discovered Wednesday after his wife called the police with a complaint that he had killed her dog.

Chartrand was charged with removing a body from a grave and with cruelty to animals.

“I do believe that it was the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel, ” O’Donnell said when questioned on whether she thought the US government was behind the collapse of World Trade Center.

“I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center tower which collapsed in on itself–it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved. Miraculously, the first time in history steel was melted by fire,” she said.

“To say that we don’t know that it imploded…is beyond ignorant. Look at the film, get a physics expert from Yale, from Harvard, pick the school. It defies reason. Imagine if somebody could convince you of that.”

With these remarks, in support of conspiracy theorists, the outspoken co-host of the ABC talk show “The View,” began to pave her way off the show.

That path was cemented when the liberal O’Donnell and co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, a political conservative, had a heated exchange last Wednesday over the Iraq war. O’Donnell criticized US policy by saying, “655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?”

All of these remarks were made on national television.

While I personally don’t agree with conspiracy theories regarding 9/11, I do believe that O’Donnell has every right to express her opinion in a public forum.

To those of you who would say that ABC has every right to scrag O’Donnell because they own the network, I would say that they are suppressing public opinion because they have another agenda. A corporate agenda that backs Bush administration policies whatever they may be.

Why else would they ditch someone who has sent the ratings (profits) for the show through the roof? Patriotism? Give me a break.

Fransuah Matthews, Gary, IN, has pleaded guilty to the voluntary manslaughter of Verndell Warmack, who was illegally installing cable TV at his house. Matthews claims that he flew into a killing rage after realizing that his television set was not cable ready.

He will face 20 years in prison if the plea agreement is accepted.

Matthews killed the illegal cable guy as he stood on a ladder performing the hookup. His anger was prompted by the fact that he would have to spend money to purchase additional equipment.

It must not be murder if the shooter is already brain dead.

So they did something about it; they created their own site–Conservapedia.

This is a site that has to be seen to be believed. Reading entries from Conservapedia is almost like being educated in the 19th centuary. Here is one comparison:

US DEMOCRATIC PARTY

WIKIPEDIA

“The party advocates civil liberties, social freedoms, equal rights, equal opportunity, fiscal responsibility, and a free enterprise system tempered by government intervention.”

CONSERVAPEDIA

“The Democrat voting record reveals a true agenda of cowering to terrorism, treasonous anti-Americanism, and contempt for America’s founding principles.”

My fiancé was talking on the phone as she washed the dishes yesterday. After the conversation was finished, she placed the phone–a cordless–on the floor rather than stop what she was doing and walk it into the living room where the base is located.

About 30 minutes later, the doorbell began ringing insistently. As she does not like to answer the door when she is alone and not expecting company, she went to the window to see if it could be determined just who the unexpected caller might be. Much to her shock, there was a police cruiser parked out front!

She ran to the door, snatched up the dog, who was barking furiously, and opened it.

The officer stated our address and asked, “You called?”

“No,” she replied, looking at the still yapping canine, “but my dog did.”

The policeman cracked up with laughter.

Look out, Mama,

there’s a white boat

comin’ up the river

With a big red beacon,

and a flag,

and a man on the rail

I think you’d better call John,

‘Cause it don’t

look like they’re here

to deliver the mail

And it’s less than a mile away

I hope they didn’t come to stay

It’s got numbers on the side

and a gun

And it’s makin’ big waves.

Daddy’s gone,

my brother’s out hunting

in the mountains

Big John’s been drinking

since the river took Emmy-Lou

So the powers that be

left me here

to the thinkin’

And I just turned twenty-two

I was wonderin’ what to do

And the closer they got,

The more those feelings grew.

Daddy’s rifle in my hand

felt reassurin’

He told me,

Red means run, son,

numbers add up to nothin’

But when the first shot

hit the docks I saw it comin’

Raised my rifle to my eye

Never stopped to wonder why.

Then I saw black,

And my face splashed in the sky.

Shelter me from the powder

and the finger

Cover me with the thought

that pulled the trigger

Think of me

as one you’d never figured

Would fade away so young

With so much left undone

Remember me to my love,

I know I’ll miss her.

Bradley’s journalistic abilities were recognized with four Peabody awards and 19 Emmys, among other achievements.

He covered the Vietnam War, in which he was wounded while on assignment. He reported on Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaign in 1976, then became the first black White House correspondent for CBS during the Carter presidency. Bradley joined “60 Minutes” in 1981 when Dan Rather replaced Walter Cronkite as CBS News anchor.

Ed Bradley was a great journalist, one of the very best. He will be missed by many, and his absence will be noticed by many more.

Indiana Pacers swingman Stephen Jackson, along with three of his teammates and some friends visited a westside strip-club last week. Jackson got into a fight with a couple of other patrons of the establishment, and during the course of this altercation, fired shots from his legally licensed handgun into the air. He was also struck by a car driven by one of the other men.

A small amount of marijuana was found in the car belonging to Jamaal Tinsley. No determination was made as to who the pot belonged to. These are the basic facts, but there are two variations as to how they occurred, Jackson’s and Prosecutor Carl Brizzi’s. Each of them has a reason for his take on the situation.

Jackson, who was caught up in the moment, and probably doesn’t even have total knowledge of the step-by-step unfolding of events, doesn’t want to go to jail. Brizzi, who is running for reelection to his position, has a vested interest in making a big splash. So in Jackson’s version, it was self-defense, while in Brizzi’s it was unlawful assault. Due to Jackson’s checkered past, and his unpopularity with Pacer fans, most people have chosen to believe the Brizzi version. The true version may never be known, but a legal decision will be made anyway.

Unfortunately, this episode has prompted an inordinate amount of dirt-digging and mud-slinging, and now the entire Pacers organization is under suspicion. The court of public opinion is unforgiving. Marijuana was found in a car registered to Jermaine O’Neal, so now he, too is guilty. Along with the unpopular Tinsley.

Tell me none of you know somebody who uses marijuana, at least socially, and I will call you a liar. The stuff is all around us, and to say these guys are thugs because they also have those types of friends is hypocrisy. To set these young men up as role models for your children is emotional abandonment. You, Jackass, are the one responsible, not some shoulda, coulda, woulda athlete. Stop throwing stones for a moment and examine your own lives.

Yes, Jackson deserves some kind of punishment for his behavior. Does he deserve to go to prison for disillusioning your children? No. Suck it up.
