Not to worry Sharon, I publish everything that sounds intelligent.
In fact, I have no real quarrel with DST or with the Governor's health program in general. We don't really need a 60% obesity rate. I have a major problem with being penalized on health insurance for everything Mitch feels is destructive behavior, though, because this only adds to the stranglehold that industry has on our lives.
I also question just how out of debt we really are. As a state employee, I still observe wastage at every level--except when it comes to paying employees or hiring enough to get the job done effectively.
While monetary savings is a concern, it cannot be the highest priority in government. There is efficiency and then there is efficiency. In business, as the current administration is attempting to emulate, it's all about money. But government is about more than enriching shareholders.
In my opinion, Daniels is too corporate, and the only real change the people of Indiana will see in the long run from his efforts is a further split between the wealthy and those struggling for survival.

You know. I have changed my mine about Mitch Daniels. He gets us out of our comfort zones. It was time for us to get shaken up. I decided to be open. What... me exercise. What...the state, thinking about getting out of debt. ...you mean things have to be tough for a while. Even my friends who were at first not liking the time zone change, now say they really like getting out for walks and enjoying the evening with spouses and kids. I can now drive home safely from the lake before it gets really dark. Why go back. Why do we have to have politcal parties anyway? Aren't we in Indiana- where we elect Bayh & Lugar year after year. They are from different parties. So many of us are just tired of the partisan stuff. Goverment works best when there is differences and are we so prejudice that we want only our own kind. Like we have a hold on all ideas. Please say there is more to us than that. The real question here is if you have courage to publish this as is, my friend.

Acknowledged. And I expect even more contenders to enter the race since this post was first published. It'll probably be pretty wide open on the Democratic side; the Republican side will depend on whether or not Mitch runs for reelection.

Also remember that former congresswoman and former
undersecretary of state Jill Long Thompson is seen
as a strong contender.
